Utoo Radio - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is reaching out to Hay River and Kátł’odeeche First Nation (KFN) residents and businesses, urging them to share their valuable feedback on the ongoing 2022 flood recovery activities.
The Government of the Northwest Territories is set to commence Phase 2 of the After Action Review (AAR), providing a platform for individuals involved in the recovery efforts following the 2022 flood in Hay River and on the KFN Reserve to share their valuable perspectives. In early 2023, the initial phase of the AAR was conducted, with a strong emphasis on preparedness and response.
After collecting feedback, conducting analysis, and reviewing practices in other provinces and territories, the GNWT is set to release a comprehensive report. This report will outline the results of Phases 1 and 2, highlighting what worked well, the lessons learned, and recommendations for improving emergency management in the Northwest Territories. When large-scale emergencies occur, it is customary to complete After Action Reports (AARs).
The Government of the Northwest Territories is specifically seeking feedback from:
Attention to all residents, businesses, and officials of the Town of Hay River who were affected by the 2022 flood and took part in the recovery efforts or applied for disaster assistance.
Residents, businesses, and officials in KFN who have received initial recovery support
An online survey has been launched to gather feedback from the public. The survey will remain open from February 14 to March 15, 2024. Mark your calendars for February 23, 2024, because Hay River is hosting a crucial public meeting. This gathering aims to gather valuable insights from individuals who have received disaster assistance. It's an opportunity for the community to come together and share their perspectives. We will bring you the latest updates on the meeting as soon as they are confirmed.
Direct outreach and meetings are scheduled to occur with representatives of community governments and territorial officials in order to gather their perspectives.
The final After Action Review is expected to be released by the GNWT in Fall 2024.
