Utoo Radio with Other News Sources, June 18, 2024 - A Cree child who died in 1966 at a Quebec residential school will be exhumed at her parents' request.
This marks the third disinterment request since Quebec passed a law in 2021 to help Indigenous families learn about their children's deaths and disappearances in health-care and social service institutions.
Awacak, a group helping Indigenous families, wants her remains to be buried with her relatives.
DNA analysis confirmed one exhumed boy was the child of one of the families.
