Utoo Radio with Other News Sources, July 1, 2024 - The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump cannot be prosecuted for actions within his constitutional powers as president but can for private acts.
The 6-3 ruling, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, threw out a lower court's decision that rejected Trump's claim of immunity from federal criminal charges involving his efforts to undo his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden.
The ruling marks the first time since the nation's 18th-century founding that former presidents may be shielded from criminal charges. Trump's trial, scheduled to begin on March 4, has been delayed due to immunity issues.
