Utoo Radio - July 12 2024 - Canada's Government says it is working towards a fairer country for all, focusing on addressing the barriers faced by persons with disabilities in securing and maintaining jobs.

The Employment Strategy for Canadians with Disabilities, launched by Minister Kamal Khera, aims to close the employment gap between persons with disabilities and those without by 2040.

The Strategy aims to help individuals find and maintain good jobs, diversify the workforce by creating inclusive workplaces, and increase the supply, capacity, and reach of individuals and organizations supporting disability inclusion and accessibility in employment.

The Strategy also celebrates the 5th anniversary of the Accessible Canada Act, which has been a significant achievement for disability rights in Canada.

The Strategy and $6.5 million in funding will go to seven organizations across Canada, working with Indigenous, Black, and racialized Canadians with disabilities to improve employment outcomes.
