Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - September 6, 2024 - The Newfoundland and Labrador government has reached a tentative rate mitigation deal with the Innu Nation, following a meeting with the Innu Nation's executive committee.

Premier Andrew Furey, Attorney General John Hogan, and Indigenous Affairs Minister Scott Reid met with the Innu Nation to hash out the agreement.

The announcement comes two months after the Innu Nation threatened to take the provincial government back to court, alleging that Newfoundland and Labrador violated its duty to the Innu by not including them in consultations and accommodations in the $5.2-billion Muskrat Falls rate mitigation deal.

The government has announced details on the agreement and a formal signing will follow in the coming weeks
