Denesuline Singer Wows "Canada's Got Talent" Judges

Utoo Radio and Other News Sources, April 22, 2024 Rebecca Strong, a 20-year-old Denesuliné singer, is in the running for a million-dollar prize after captivating the nation with her powerful voice on a recent episode of Canada's Got Talent (CGT).

Strong's performance of Demi Lovato's song "Stone Cold" delighted the audience and judges alike, as she embodied the song's lyrics. Strong received a standing ovation, which brought her to tears. CGT judge Lilly Singh acknowledged her purpose on the stage, recognizing her purpose on the stage.

The winning act will take home $1 million, the largest prize in "Canada's" reality show history.

Strong's emotional performance was not without humour, as she poked fun at her dad's age and mentioned helping him retire with the prize money. Strong is from Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan, and resides in the southern city of Prince Albert.

Fellow CGT judge Howie Mandel spoke to the influence her presence is having throughout Indigenous communities in "Canada." Strong's presence made Canada and her Indigenous culture very proud. Singh used her only golden buzzer on Strong, causing her to become emotional again as golden confetti covered the stage.

Strong's parents rushed to her side and hugged her during her big moment. In an interview, Strong described the first moments at CGT as "scary," as she was alone throughout the first audition process. However, she found like-minded contestants who supported each other during this time. She said it was overwhelming to have her own golden buzzer moment, and she said it made her parents proud.

Strong, a singer from Saskatchewan, has found her passion for performing on stage to be exhilarating. She describes it as acting in a role and likens it to singing like acting in a role. Strong has performed covers of various songs and written an original piece, which she performed at the Saskatchewan Music Awards. The melody for her song came to her in a dream, and she followed her intuition on the accompanying lyrics.

Strong's upbringing in a musical household allowed her to have a connection to singing throughout her life. She was in a band with her father and sisters called Thunder and the Sky Dancers, which eventually became the Strong Sisters. In 2019, she went solo and had a viral video of her singing go viral. She knew that she wanted to pursue a career in music, and this was the time to do it.

Strong said she is inspired by artists such as Adele but also by her family, who support her hard work and have faith in her dad's input on her music. She remembers her first solo performance at age five with her dad, accompanied by his guitar.

Strong said she is living her dream career and is constantly striving to give her best every time she performs. She hopes to record and release her original song soon, tour the country, and perform abroad to share her music and meet her supporters.

The season of CGT began airing on March 19 and is set to wrap up with a finale episode on May 14.
