Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - June 25, 2024 - The Coalition of First Nations for Finfish Stewardship has called for a public apology from actors William Shatner and Ryan Reynolds for their part in a video promoting salmon farming in the Canadian waters.

The group, which supports fish farms, claims that the actors' actions in the video, which includes the "F-word," are a violation of the rights of First Nations people who work in the industry.

The group claims that the Canadian government has pledged to phase out open ocean-pen farming. They also say the B.C. Salmon Farmers Association has warned that 4,700 jobs and over $1 billion in annual economic activity will be lost if open-pen licenses cannot be renewed.

The Coalition claims that First Nations have been stewards of their lands, waters, and elements for over 10,000 years, including wild Pacific salmon, which is the life blood of their people.
