Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - July 16, 2024 - Jeremy Skibicki, a man who was found guilty of first-degree murder in Winnipeg, has been criticized for his actions.
Skibicki confessed to the crime and described how he disposed of the bodies of four Indigenous women, including Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Buffalo Woman.
He also admitted to being a white supremacist who believed he was doing the world a favor by getting rid of them.
However, Chief Justice Glenn Joyal dismissed the evidence as "fabricated" and argued that Skibicki understood the planned killings were legally and morally wrong.
This case mirrors the 2019 Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls, which found "genocidal" intent in the murder and disappearance of hundreds of Indigenous women.
The RCMP and other police forces in Western Canada adopted the same attitude, not looking for victims when they went missing or laying charges when bodies turned up.
Skibicki seemed to be bragging about killing four women, expecting the police to sympathize with him.
The National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Girls and Women correctly identified "genocidal" intent in the murders or disappearances of hundreds of girls and women.
