Utoo Radiop with Other News Sources - September 21, 2024 - September has been warmer in Finland's northernmost municipality, Utsjoki, than an average July, but cooler temperatures are on the way.

A record autumn temperature was set at Kevo measuring station in Utsjoki, reaching 21.3 degrees Celsius.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) reported the latest date this autumn that temperatures topped 20 degrees in central and northern Lapland since the 1960s.

The mercury rose even higher in southern Lapland, with Pello's high reading of 22.2 degrees Celsius being the highest recorded temperature in Finland.

The FMI forecasts cooler conditions over the coming weekend, with temperatures unlikely to exceed 20 degrees Celsius anywhere in the country.
