Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - September 22, 2024 - Local organizations in Guelph, Ontario, are organizing Sisters in Spirit, a day of action and remembrance, to raise awareness about the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2-Spirit (MMIWG2S+) people in Canada.

The event, organized by SOAHAC, the Guelph Community Health Centre, and Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, will take place on October 4 at Royal City Park.

Indigenous women make up only 4% of Canada's population, but are 50% more likely to experience trafficking, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence.

The event will feature red dresses as a visual reminder of those killed or gone missing.
