Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - September 29, 2024 - Russia's Arctic military manoeuvres in Chukotka, Russia, aimed to cover 300 kilometers of rough terrain and carry out combat tasks during an attack on Alaska.
The Russian Marines used standard DT-10P Vityaz all-terrain vehicles, but photos released by the Russians showed a self-propelled 2S39 Magnolia mortar with a 120 mm calibre.
This is an advanced version of the Vityaz, which can operate even at temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius.
The Russians' raid was not intended to capture territory but to conduct diversionary operations. Similar limitations apply to other Vityaz systems, such as the Pantsir-SA or Tor M2DT anti-aircraft systems, which cannot traverse the terrain they were designed to overcome.
