Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - October 3, 2024 - A Greenland lawmaker, Aki-Matilda Hoegh-Dam, was asked to leave the Danish Parliament's podium due to her intention to speak only in Greenlandic, the Inuit language of the Arctic island.

This strained relations within the Danish Realm have been highlighted, as Greenlandic and Faeroe Islands lawmakers hold two seats in the Folketing in Copenhagen.

Hoegh-Dam demanded simultaneous interpretation of her speech, which is taught in Greenland's schools, and the Danish language is the language in the Copenhagen assembly.

Greenland, a self-governing entity, has been under Danish control since 1979, but relations have been strained due to allegations of misconduct by Danish authorities in Greenland.

The island still relies heavily on Denmark for annual financial support.
