Utoo Radio - November 8, 2024 - Canada is reestablishing relationships with First Nations by addressing its failure to provide them with agricultural provisions promised under Treaties 4, 5, 6, and 10.

Chief Delbert Wapass of Thunderchild First Nation and Minister Gary Anandasangaree announced a settlement agreement, resulting in $155,400,000 in compensation.

Canada has provided $2,093,205,226 to First Nations in western provinces since May 2023.

The socio-economic gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples in Canada are a result of decades of colonial policies, often leading to land and resource denial.

Honouring Canada's legal obligations and compensating Indigenous Peoples for unlawfully taken or withheld resources is crucial for advancing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and rebuilding trust with Indigenous communities.
