Utoo Radio with Other News Sourcxes - November 15, 2024 - Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault has apologized for not being clear about his family's Indigenous ancestry.

He defended his actions as not trying to present himself as Indigenous and defended his adoptive family's history.

Boissonnault said he was adopted into an Indigenous family and has never claimed Indigenous status.

He said both his mother and brother have Metis Nation of Alberta citizenship.

Boissonnault was first elected in 2015 and served until 2019 when he lost his seat in an election that fall.

He also confirmed that he had asked the Liberal party to change communications when he used to sit as a member of the Liberals' Indigenous caucus.
