Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - November 15, 2024 - Indigenous entrepreneur Kat Pasquach, owner of Culture Shock Jewelry in Windsor, is concerned about the impact of the Canada Post strike on her business.

Typically, Pasquach ships eight to 16 parcels a day to customers, but that has dwindled to two by Tuesday.

The strike is not the only factor affecting the retail industry, as over 55,000 workers in urban, suburban, and rural bargaining units are on strike seeking wage, pension, and expanded postal services.

Pasquach can ship orders to urban areas by courier, but most of her customers in rural areas cannot receive shipments other than Canada Post. Many of Pasquach's customers are artisans who rely on her business as a source of beads for their projects.

Many of these artisans are now facing financial difficulties.

Downtown Windsor businesses like Whiskeyjack Boutique are working around the strike by clearing their shipping queue, advising customers of potential changes, promoting local delivery, and adjusting shipping options.
