Utoo Radio with Other Sources - January 23, 2025 - The Sámi Parliamentary Council (SPN) in Finland has decided to finance and strengthen Sámi rights in Europe, including establishing a secretariat.

The council, which includes the Sámi Parliaments of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia, aims to strengthen cooperation among Sámi, focusing on cultural preservation, land rights, and political representation.

The Norwegian chairmanship plans to continue this work, prioritizing the establishment of a secretariat.

The council also discussed the creation of a joint Sámi appeals body to address electoral list concerns.

The council pledges to continue fostering opportunities for young Sámi people to be involved in governance.
