Putin claims that negotiations began at the start of the special military operation (SVO), and that the Kremlin's demands for Ukraine's demilitarization, denazification, and neutral status have been forgotten.

He also claims that Zelenskyy's powers have expired, and he believes that the decree banning negotiations with Russia is legitimate.

Putin believes that Ukraine's sovereignty is almost zero if Western financial sponsorship and ammunition supply stop.

US President Donald Trump has urged Putin to negotiate with Moscow to end the war against Ukraine, but Putin has accused Kyiv of having a ban on negotiations with Russia.
