Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - March 5, 2025 - A new survey by the Angus Reid Institute has revealed that Canadians are feeling anger and betrayed due to US President Donald Trump's annexation and tariff threats.
The survey surveyed 2,005 Canadian respondents between February 27 and March 3, before tariffs of Canadian goods entering the US came into force and Canadian leaders announced retaliatory measures.
Only 17% of Canadians hold a favorable view of Trump, compared to 79% who feel the opposite.
Trump's special government adviser Elon Musk also had a similar 79% disapproval rating.
The poll found that Canadians' support for retaliation against the US has been growing since January. Majority support was found for three specific policy responses: a 25% tariff on US goods entering Canada (65% support), targeted tariffs on key US imports (70%), and a ban on critical Canadian exports to the US (65%).
The U.S. favorability rating of 24% was only four points higher than China's (20%) and well behind Mexico (75%) and the United Kingdom (82%).
Support among the American public for tariffs, especially if it means higher gas prices, is low.
